DVD Geeks - 10.26.09
2009-10-26
This DVD Geeks is a jam-packed, action-filled adventure from sci-fi to sci-fact, from the ultimate friendly neighbor to the ultimate farbissen.
When Battlestar Galactica ended its series run on TV, we knew it was only a matter of time beofre the specials/reunions/clip-shows started popping up. Now, before the offiical launch of ther prequel series “Caprica,” we get a feature-length Glactica special called “The Plan” directed by Edward James Olmos. We’ll see how well this movie (intended to shed more light on the Cylons) fits into the rest of the mythology.
Once Cylons attack (or maybe a less fantastical disaster) what would happen to Earth if all the people were gone? The History Channel’s “Life After People” uses dazzling special effects to explore just that question from a few minutes after humaity is gone to tens of thousands of years.
Next up, we’ll look at Woody Allen’s latest – and entirely appropriate collaboration with Larry David called “Whatever Works,” then we’ll revisit an ‘80s horror classis “Night of the Creeps” which is finally getting it’s DVD debut. Michael Felscher – producer of the long-anticipated DVD – joins us for a little insider discussion on the process of bringing the “Creeps” to the home video market. We’ll round things out with the charming series “On the Road” from veteran CBS newsman Charles Kurault.
Finally, we’ll explore the drool-worthy new bluray edition of the classic Patrick McGoohan series “The Prisoner.”
We’ll even squeeze in a couple of geek picks “Slither” and “Shaun of the Dead” as well as our weekly honorable mention. Be seeing you…
